About Corinth

Corinth Recreation Area is a modern, well-developed campground located along the upper reaches of Lewis Smith Lake in Winston County, Alabama. Originally constructed in the 1960s and extensively renovated in 1998, the area offers a full range of recreational opportunities, including camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, and hiking in a scenic lakeside setting.

Campground Facilities

The campground is organized into two paved loops and includes 52 campsites, all designed to accommodate RV and family camping. Each site features water, 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, and sewer hookups, along with paved parking spurs, picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern posts. Most sites are level, spacious, and capable of accommodating larger RVs.

In addition to the RV sites, Corinth offers eight rustic tent-only campsites, supported by nearby community water hydrants and bathhouse access for a more traditional camping experience. ADA-accessible sites are available throughout the campground.

Four bathhouses with flush toilets and warm showers serve the camping areas. A trailer dump station is located within the recreation area, and an access-controlled entrance station with an electronic gate helps manage campground entry. Visitors are required to pack out trash from campsites and dispose of it in designated dumpsters located near the dump station.

Camping is by reservation only through Recreation.gov. Check-in begins at 2:00 p.m., and check-out is no later than 12:00 p.m.

Day-Use Amenities

The day-use area centers around a popular swimming beach, supported by a bathhouse with showers and changing facilities. Nearby, 29 family picnic sites are connected by paved access paths, offering convenient and comfortable day-use opportunities.

A reservable group picnic pavilion accommodates up to 100 people and includes a nearby flush restroom. Additional amenities include a year-round boat launch with boat and trailer parking, as well as a separate launch available for campground users.

Visitors can also enjoy a scenic 1.25-mile shoreline trail, often referred to as the Bobwhite Trail, which provides opportunities for walking and nature observation. Interpretive programs are offered during the summer months, enhancing the visitor experience.
